A website opened on Saturday to announce that Coffee’s Wandance manga will receive a stage play, Wandance on Stage, running March 19-28 at the MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives in Tokyo. THE JET BOY BANGERZ member Taki, of Exile Tribe, will star as Kaboku, with Imagine Ito directing and writing the script. Auditions for ensemble dancers will be held in the fall.
The manga follows Kaboku, a boy who has always gone along with others’ expectations until he stumbles on classmate Hikari Wanda dancing alone one night and feels compelled to join the school’s hip-hop dance club.
Coffee launched the series in Afternoon magazine in 2019, with the 15th volume out in December 2025; Kodansha USA will release the 14th English volume in November 2026. A TV anime adaptation aired in Japan from October 2025 with Disney+ streaming it, and a live-action film opens in Japan on November 27.
