The Kagurabachi anime has revealed the next leg of its ongoing Anime World Tour. Part 2 will bring the first 20 minutes of Episode 1 to conventions in Johannesburg and Melbourne, alongside a special appearance by anime producer Kenta Suzuki.
Where and when
The Comic Con Africa screening is scheduled for September 27, 2026 from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. SAST at the Johannesburg Expo Centre’s Anime Cinema. The PAX Aus screening follows on October 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. AEDT at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s Quokka Theater.
The tour so far
Part 1 of the Anime World Tour began at Anime Expo in Los Angeles in July, then continued at Japan Expo in Paris, AnimagiC in Mannheim, Otakon in Washington, D.C., and Anime NYC. With the newly announced African and Australian stops, the campaign will have reached five continents — an unusually broad promotional push for a series whose anime is still more than half a year from release. About Kagurabachi
Kagurabachi, written and illustrated by Takeru Hokazono, is serialised in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. It became a phenomenon almost immediately after its September 2023 debut, initially riding a wave of ironic internet hype that quickly turned into genuine acclaim as the series delivered on its premise: a young swordsman, Chihiro Rokuhira, hunts the sorcerers who murdered his father, a legendary swordsmith, using one of the enchanted blades his father left behind.
The anime adaptation is set to premiere in April 2027, with Crunchyroll streaming it worldwide excluding Japan, mainland China, North Korea and South Korea. Studio Cypic is handling animation production, with Tetsuya Takeuchi — the animator famous for the Rock Lee vs. Gaara fight in Naruto — directing. Cypic is a relatively new studio under CyberAgent, and its involvement, plus Takeuchi’s reputation for expressive action animation, has raised expectations that the adaptation will lean hard into the manga’s stylised sword fights.
The world tour, with its repeated 20-minute previews and producer appearances, appears designed to build that anticipation months ahead of broadcast — a strategy more common for major theatrical releases than for a debut TV anime.
