The originating outlet is credited within an article whenever that article is substantially based on its reporting.

Source material published in Japanese, French or other languages is translated and summarized for an international, English-reading audience. Our translations aim to preserve the meaning of the original rather than provide a literal, word-for-word rendering, and figures such as prices or dates may be presented alongside their original market context.

3. AI-assisted production

4. What this means for readers

An article based on another outlet’s reporting is not a claim of independent, first-hand verification unless the article says so. Readers who want the original reporting can follow the credited source link.
