Crunchyroll announced in a press release onWednesday that it and Sony Pictures Entertainment will release The Irregular at Magic High School THE MOVIE – Yotsuba Succession Arc – (Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Yotsuba Keishō-hen) anime film in UK cinemas on November 4 and 5, in Japanese with subttles..
The film is described in the press release as follows:
“It is the year 2096. Almost a century has passed since magic was established as actual technology. Apair of siblings were about to enter the winter season of their second year in high school. Tatsuya, the older brother, bears a fatal flaw in his magic abilities. Meanwhile, the beautiful and intelligent, perfect younger sister, Miyuki, has unmatched magical talent. Anirregular and a star student.
“Despite their differences, the pairof siblings were living alongside each other in harmony. That is, until they received a certain letter…
“The letter contained an invitation to the New Year’s Banquet, to be hosted at the Yotsuba Clan’s headmanor. The Head of the Yotsuba Clan,Maya Yotsuba, and the heads of each branch family will be in attendance…There, the nextHead of the Yotsuba Clan will be announced.
“Miyuki dreaded the prospect of being designated as the next Head of the Clan. For if she were to assume that mantle, she would no longer be permitted to remain single; she would be required to marry. And that, in turn, would mean having to let go of the days she spent by Tatsuya’s side. However, Miyuki becoming the Head of the Clan would allow her to transform the status of Tatsuya—who, as a Guardian, has long been treated with disdain. Hoping to provide Tatsuya’s freedom, Miyuki makes a momentous decision while en route to the Yotsuba manor.

Returning cast members included Yūichi Nakamura as Tatsuya Shiba, Saori Hayami as Miyuki Shiba, Chiwa Saitō as Maya Yotsuba, and Emiri Katō as Fumiya Kuroba. New cast members included Daisuke Ono as Katsushige Shibata and Ai Kayano as Yuuka Tsukuba.
Jimmy Stone directed the anime at 8-Bit. Taku Iwasaki composed the music. Tsutomu Satou is credited for the original story, and Kana Ishida is credited for theoriginal character design.

The film opened in Japan on May 8 after an April 28 premiere in Tokyo.
Tsutomu Satou’s The Irregular at Magic High School (Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei) light novel series launched in 2008, and ended with the 32nd volume in September 2020. Two sequels shipped in October 2020 and January 2021.
The Irregular at Magic High School TV anime premiered in April 2014 and aired for 26 episodes. A second season, titled The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor Arc, premiered in October 2020 and ran for 13 episodes. The anime franchise also includes the The irregular at magic high school The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars film, whichopened in Japan in June 2017. The Honor Student at Magic High School manga inspired a 13-episode TV anime that premiered in July 2021.
The Irregular at Magic High School anime’s third television season premiered in April 2024. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired with English subtitles and an English dub.
