Production on the second TV anime season of Yusei Matsui’s The Elusive Samurai gained a new cast member Friday, with Niina Hanamiya announced in the role of Mima.
The season resumed airing July 17 in the Noitamina block on Fuji TV and AT-X, with Amazon Prime Video among the Japanese streaming outlets and Crunchyroll carrying a simulcast for overseas viewers.
Director Yuta Yamazaki and character designer/chief animation director Yasushi Nishiya both return at studio CloverWorks, joined by animation director Shinnosuke Ota and composers GEMBI and Akiyuki Tateyama. Kento Nakajima sings the opening theme “Onigoto,” while Bocchiboromaru performs the ending song “Romantic ga Hoshii nara” with guest vocals from three members of Hinatazaka46.
The first season debuted in July 2024 with a Crunchyroll simulcast and English dub. Matsui’s manga, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from January 2021 to February this year and published in English by Viz Media, won the Best Shonen award at the 69th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2024.
