A third promotional video for the second season of The Detective Is Already Dead, based on the light novels by Nigoju and Umibozu, arrived Friday alongside new cast additions and an October 7 broadcast date.

Joining the show are Akari Komiyama as Mia Whitlock and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Scarlet. The season streams first on d Anime Store at 10:00 p.m. before its 10:30 p.m. Tokyo MX broadcast, with AT-X, BS NTV and other platforms also carrying it. Returning voice talent includes Arata Nagai as Kimihiko Kimizuka and Saki Miyashita reprising Siesta.

Director Manabu Kurihara, writer Deko Akao and character designer Yosuke Ito all return at studio ENGI. Musician 40mP again scores the series and pens its theme songs, with Kome performing the opener “Kono Shinzo ni Hanabata wo” and Kagura Nana returning for the ending theme “Hakuchumu.”

First announced in July 2022, the sequel follows a first season that launched with a one-hour special in July 2021 for 12 episodes, streamed by the former Funimation service alongside an English dub. Nigoju’s novels have run through 13 volumes under Kadokawa’s MF Bunko J imprint since 2019, with Yen Press handling the English release; a manga adaptation by Mugiko ran from 2020 to 2023.
