The official site for the TV anime based on Ayaka Katayama’s manga Fungus and Iron shared a second teaser visual Thursday alongside confirmation that Keitaro Motonaga—known for Date A Live and The Beginning After the End—will direct the project at Yokohama Animation Lab.
Kodansha USA, which releases the series digitally, describes protagonist Dante as living an outwardly ordinary if odd life on the island of Amigasa until a chance encounter with a young woman named Aoi upends everything.
Katayama’s manga began in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in March 2021, paused for the creator’s maternity leave later that year before resuming in 2022, and is scheduled to conclude on September 9, with a tenth and final collected volume due October 8.
