Pony Canyon confirmed Friday that Dark Gathering, the supernatural manga adaptation from creator Kenichi Kondo, will return for a second television season in 2027, accompanying the announcement with a new visual depicting a spectral dam-dwelling spirit.
Yu Sasahara and Nobunaga Shimazaki continue voicing leads Yayoi Hozuki and Keitaro Gentoga, respectively, alongside Kana Hanazawa and Rina Kawaguchi. The first season was directed by Hiroshi Ikehata at studio OLM with scripts overseen by Shigeru Murakoshi and character designs by Shin’ya Segawa.
The story follows Keitaro, a reclusive spirit medium who resurfaces into society as a tutor and is recruited by the gifted Yayoi Hozuki into a partnership hunting down malevolent spirits. Kondo’s manga has run in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. since March 2019, with Viz Media publishing it in English.
