Producers behind the current Ranma 1/2 anime confirmed Friday that Seiya, of comedy duo Shimofuri Myojo, will both guest-star in an as-yet-unrevealed role and serve as promotional ambassador for the show’s third season, which gets an advance screening on October 3 at Tokyo’s Aqua City Odaiba featuring stars Kappei Yamaguchi, Noriko Hidaka and Koichi Yamadera.
New cast joining the season include veteran actress Masako Nozawa as the Grand Master and Jun Fukuyama as Sentaro Daimonji, among others. Konosuke Uda returns to direct at MAPPA, with most of the first two seasons’ animation staff back on board and new additions including animation directors Riko Kaneda and Haruki Miura.
Rumiko Takahashi’s manga classic returned to television with this MAPPA-produced adaptation’s first season in October 2024, followed by a second season in October 2025; both seasons streamed exclusively on Netflix following their domestic broadcasts.
