The new trailer, posted on the anime’s official YouTube channel, offers a glimpse into the world of the “Awakened” – individuals who possess extraordinary powers hidden beneath the fabric of modern society. High‑school student Jiwoo Seo, who has been keeping his latent ability under wraps, encounters a talking stray cat that dramatically reshapes his destiny.

Story Premise and Characters

In the series, secret factions of super‑powered beings operate in the shadows, shaping events from behind the scenes. Jiwoo, an ordinary teenager, discovers his own mysterious power while nursing an injured cat back to health. The cat, revealed to be Kayden – the strongest Awakened transformed into feline form – becomes Jiwoo’s unlikely ally. Together, they are drawn into the machinations of powerful organizations, with Kayden’s unique perspective guiding them toward a larger conflict.

The trailer showcases several key cast members:

  • Junya Enoki voices the reserved protagonist Jiwoo Seo (listed as Yuu Kazahaya in the promo).
  • Tasuku Hatanaka plays Wooin, a mysterious Awakened who joins Jiwoo’s class.
  • Setsuji Satō portrays Dr. Delein, a brilliant but obsessive scientist.
  • Hayato Dojima lends his voice to hot‑headed student Jisuk Yoo.
  • Shizuka Itō is cast as Jiyoung Yoo, the youthful leader of the large Awakened group “Mythos.”

Production Team Highlights

The adaptation is being directed by veteran Hiroshi Nishikiori, known for his work on IDOLiSH7 the Movie LIVE 4bit BEYOND THE PERiOD and Honey Lemon Soda. Script supervision comes from Yousuke Kuroda, the series composer behind My Hero Academia. Character designs are handled by Minami Sakura, whose portfolio includes Gridman Universe. The animation is produced by DandeLion Animation Studio, the same studio that delivered the acclaimed The First Slam Dunk series.

Additional staff includes sub‑character designers Masato Katō, Mina Ōsawa, and Kōji Watanabe; chief animation supervisors Minami Sakura and Masato Katō; art director Mayu Imaichi; color designer Haruko Nobori; and sound director Takatoshi Hamano. Music for the series will be composed by Taku Iwasaki, adding a dynamic auditory backdrop to the action‑packed narrative.

From Webtoon to Television

Since its launch in 2018, Eleceed has been published on NAVER WEBTOON in more than ten languages, racking up over 1.7 billion global views. The series consistently ranks among the platform’s top battle‑action titles across North America, Asia, and Europe.

Creator Jeho Son (profile) previously saw his other webtoon, Noblesse, receive an anime adaptation by Production I.G in 2020, following a 30‑minute OAV in 2016. Both adaptations are available for streaming on Crunchyroll, hinting at strong potential for Eleceed to secure a global simulcast.

What the Delay Means for Fans

The shift to an April 2027 debut gives the production team additional time to polish animation quality and finalize the extensive cast lineup revealed in the trailer. While the postponement may be disappointing for eager viewers, the extra months could translate into a more refined visual experience, especially given DandeLion’s reputation for high‑caliber animation.

For those looking for early access, the trailer itself is the first official glimpse into the series, and it will likely be used to generate hype ahead of the new broadcast window. Keep an eye on the official website and the Eleceed anime page for further updates on streaming partners and episode counts.
