The TV anime adaptation of Junket Bank has been delayed. It was originally scheduled to premiere on TV Tokyo on October 5 at 12:00 a.m. JST (effectively October 6). The anime’s official website announced the delay without providing a new premiere date.
The premise
Junket Bank is set in a world where banks double as gambling halls. When greenhorn banker Akira is abruptly transferred to the Special Operations Department, he is thrown onto the bank’s gambling floor, meets a man named Shin, and abandons his ordinary life for a world of high-stakes games where his own life is on the line. The setup places it squarely in the lineage of psychological gambling manga — a genre defined by Kaiji and Akagi creator Nobuyuki Fukumoto and continued by series such as Usogui, Tobaku Haouden Zero and Kakegurui, where tension comes from rule-bending, bluffing and the threat of ruin rather than physical action.
A high-profile staff
The anime carries a notable pedigree. Seiji Kishi (Assassination Classroom, Persona 4 the Animation) is directing at studio CUE. Makoto Fukami (Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc, co-writer on Psycho-Pass) handles series composition, Masanori Shino (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean) designs the characters, and Taku Iwasaki (Gurren Lagann, Noragami, The Great Pretender) composes the music. Iwasaki in particular has a track record with slick, jazz-inflected scores for con-artist and high-stakes stories, making him a fitting choice for the material. CUE is a comparatively young studio, and a delay announced this close to a scheduled premiere generally indicates the production is not far enough along to sustain a stable weekly broadcast — an increasingly common outcome across the industry as schedules tighten.

Creator Tanaka debuted the manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump in July 2020. Shueisha published the 22nd collected volume on July 17, 2026, so the anime has a substantial and still-running source to adapt from. The series has built a steady following on the strength of its elaborate game design and the dynamic between the naive Akira and the enigmatic Shin.
What happens next
No reason for the delay was given and no revised window has been set. Productions in this situation typically resurface with a new premiere date one to three seasons later, sometimes accompanied by a fresh trailer or key visual to signal that work is back on track.
