Staff behind Sekiro: No Defeat, the anime adaptation of FromSoftware’s action game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, released a new clip Thursday depicting the pivotal duel between protagonist Wolf and rival swordsman Genichiro Ashina, with the game’s original Japanese voice cast reprising their roles throughout.
Kenichi Kutsuna directs at studio Qzil.la from a script by Takuya Sato, with character designs by Durarara!! artist Takahiro Kishida and a score from Shuta Hasunuma; the film’s theme song draws from late composer Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Playing the Orchestra 2014 album.
Crunchyroll will stream the film in 2026 across most territories outside Japan, China, Korea, Russia and Belarus, following an out-of-competition screening at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival; the production team issued a statement last year explicitly confirming no AI was used in making the film, which adapts a game that sold over 2 million copies within its first ten days following a March 2019 launch.
