Ani-One Asia announced Friday that it has picked up Narumi’s Week at Work, a new comedic short spun off from Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8, with streaming beginning September 5 at 7:00 p.m. GMT+8.
The four-episode short follows Gen Narumi—celebrated as Japan’s strongest anti-kaiju fighter—as his arrogance and habit of dodging paperwork and meetings in favor of gaming lead to unexpected comeuppance, offering a lighter look at his working life. Episodes air Saturdays in Japan through a September 26 finale, based on a concept from Kaiju No. 8: Relax spinoff creator Kizuku Watanabe.
Key television staff return for the short, including director Shigeyuki Miya, character designer/chief animation director Tetsuya Nishio, composer Yuta Bando and studio Production I.G, with Koki Uchiyama again voicing Narumi.
The flagship Kaiju No. 8 anime debuted on TV Tokyo in April 2024 with a 12-episode first season simulcast by Ani-One Asia, followed by a second season in July 2025; both seasons also streamed in real time on X to match their Japanese broadcast.
