The team behind original TV anime project Inherit the Winds confirmed Friday that a two-week advance theatrical screening, spotlighting protagonist Tachikawa Jinsuke, will begin in Japanese cinemas on November 13, accompanied by a new promotional visual.

Set during Kyoto’s Bakumatsu period, the story follows an amnesiac soldier who is taken in by real-life Shinsengumi swordsman Okita Soji—who gives him the name Tachikawa Jinsuke—as he starts a new life among the Mibu forces.

Snow Man member Daisuke Sakuma voices Jinsuke, joined by a cast of historical-drama veterans including Yuki Kaji as Okita Soji, Koki Uchiyama as Hijikata Toshizo and Yuichi Nakamura as Kondo Isami. Playwright Yutaka Narui, working with Aniplex, originated the story and wrote the screenplay, while Tomohiro Kawamura directs at Live2D Creative Studio and Drive Inc.

A companion four-panel manga by Matsuri Muramatsu is set to launch on the Twi4 X account in 2026. Narui, founder of theater troupe Caramel Box, has written multiple Shinsengumi-themed stage plays in the past, including one sharing a similar title, though ANN notes the anime is being marketed as a wholly original production distinct from that earlier stage work.
