August 11 marks Mountain Day, thenewest national holiday in Japan. The country enacted the first Mountain Day in 2016 forpeople to enjoy and thank mountains for their blessings. However, the holiday also lands close to the unofficial Obon, or honoring of ancestral spirits, holiday season in Japan. Assuch, many Japanese people use the holiday to visit their hometowns before the start of Obon. While Mountain Day is a young holiday, the anime and manga worlds are all sending their greetings from the tops of mountains:
