Some online UK listings have appeared for IMAX screenings of Studio Ghibli's 1995 film Whisper of the Heart, directed by Yoshifumi Kondō, in mid-September. Thevenues include the BFI IMAX cinema, where tickets are available for subtitled screeningson September 16 and 17; Bradford's Science and Media Museum, where tickets are available for both dubbed and subtitled screenings between September 16 and 20; and also screenings at some UK Odeon cinemas on September 16.
GKIDS previously acquired the UK andIreland distribution rights to 23 Studio Ghibli films, and it announced that it would bescreening Whisper of the Heart in UK cinemas. It is currently reissuing the Ghibli film Kiki's Delivery Service on UK IMAX screens, with a wider release to follow from Friday (August 28).
GKIDS released the (English-dubbed) trailer for Whisper of the Heartbelow, when it reissued the film in America earlier this year.
GKIDS describes the Whisper of the Heart film's story:
"A chance encounter witha mysterious cat sends Shizuku, a girl with her head in the clouds, on a quest for her true talent. Together with Seiji, a boy determined to follow his dreams, and enchanted by TheBaron, an antique cat figurine who guides her to listen to the whispers of her heart, Shizuku embarks on a life-changing adventure that takes her beyond the boundaries of her imagination.
