Following the success of its manga adaptation, Akata announced it will publish Yatsuki Wakatsu's light novel A Court Accountant in France. Translated by Clement Lauley with original illustrations by Kikka Ohashi retained, the 304-page volume 1 arrives in bookstores June 24 at 16.95 euros (112x176mm format). Launched in Japan in 2019 by Kadokawa with four volumes so far (the first being self-contained), the series gained international popularity, including an anime adaptation now streaming in France on Crunchyroll. This isekai-style fantasy male-male romance, blending humor and a sexy edge, follows Seichiro, an overworked, burned-out salaryman nearing burnout, who is unexpectedly pulled into another world while trying to help a woman being sucked into a strange vortex — and quickly finds his footing in the kingdom of Romani.
