Webtoon artist Taejun Pak and his company The Grimm Entertainment have launched a new horizontal-scrolling comic in Japanese titled Inked on Kakao's Piccoma platform on August 16. The work isPak's first horizontal-scrolling work. The comic is also mostly in black and white, instead of vertical-scrolling webtoon series that are usually in full color. Pak stated about the work, "it has been a long road to fulfill my dream of becoming a manga creator."
The comic's story begins (Note: Story terms and name romanizations are not official) when slave boy Rok is attacked by a group of monsters known as Tattoos. To survive, Rok brands himself with the Mark, the source of the Tattoos' power, and becomes a powered being known as a Marker. Now he plans to strike at the tyrannical familyat the center of the Clof Empire, and its ruler Yujin.
Founded by webtoon artist Taejun Pak, The Grimm Entertainment owns several popular IPs, including Manager Kim, (also known as Agent Kim: Reactivated) and Lookism, which have gained popularity in both South Korea and international markets. Pak and The Grimm Entertainment are also known for the Viral Hit webtoon, which has inspired both an anime and a Japanese live-action adaptation.
Kakao Games announced on August 4 that it has agreed to work with The Grimm Entertainment to develop and publish games based on its popular comic and webtoon intellectual properties.
