Publisher Vega continues its back-to-school announcements with the acquisition of Shiboyugi – Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table, whose first French volume arrives September 11 at 8.35 euros. Originally a light novel by Yushi Ukai (illustrated by Nekometal), unpublished in France, it has been serialized in Japan since 2022; its manga adaptation, currently six volumes in Japan, launched in 2023 in Kadokawa's Comp Ace magazine, illustrated by first-time mangaka Banzai Kotobuki Daienkai. Also adapted into an anime available in France on Crunchyroll and Netflix, the death-game story follows Yuki, who wakes in a mysterious mansion dressed as a maid alongside five other girls, who together discover they are trapped and must survive a series of deadly games to escape.
