Maria Holic Gets Sequel Series After 12 Years

Minari Endo announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday a new sequel series for her Maria Holic manga titledMaria Holic: Sono Ato no 12-kagetsu no Ohanashi (Maria Holic: A Story Set 12 Months After)will launch in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine on August 27.

The story is set one year after the events of the original series.

Endo launched herMaria Holic manga in the inaugural issue of Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive in 2006,and ended the series in November 2014. Tokyopop published the beginning of the manga in North America, and One Peace Books is rereleasing the series. The story inspired two television anime in 2009 and 2011, and Sentai Filmworks licensed both.

Endo ended the Hatenkō Yūgi manga in 2022. The long-running series started publication in 1999. Ichijinsha shipped the 24th and final compiled book volume in September 2022. Tokyopop publishedthe original manga in English as Dazzle.

A 10-episode anime adaptation of theseries aired in Japan in 2008. Nobuhiro Takamoto directed the series at Studio DEEN. Yasuhiro Imagawa handled series composition and Norikatsu Nakano designed the characters. Sentai Filmworks released the anime in a complete DVD collection in July 2016.

Endo ended the Uchūjin no Shiwaza Desu! manga in December 2017. Endo launched the manga inDecember 2015. Kadokawa shipped the third compiled volume in January 2018.
