Kakao Games announced on August 4 that it has agreed to work with webtoon studio The Grimm Entertainmentto develop and publish games based on its popular comic and webtoon intellectual properties.
Founded by webtoon artist Taejun Pak, The Grimm Entertainment owns severalpopular IPs, including Manager Kim, (also known as Agent Kim: Reactivated) and Lookism, which have gained popularity in both South Korea and international markets. Pak and The Grimm Entertainment are also known for the Viral Hit webtoon, which has inspired both an anime and a Japanese live-action adaptation.
Under the agreement, Kakao Games will adapt The Grimm Entertainment's webtoon IPs into games, expanding its popular titles into new forms of entertainment.
Kakao Games CEO Si-woo Lee said, “We expect ourpartnership with The Grimm Entertainment, which has powerful IP and a strong fanbase, tobring new experiences to players. We will work closely together to create games that can attract significant interest in global markets.”
The Grimm Entertainment CEO Hyung-soo Ahn said, “We are pleased to work with Kakao Games, which has extensive experience in game services. By combining our IP and webtoons with games, we hope to create anothersuccessful example of adapting a single IP across multiple forms of media.”
