Square Enix showed off Monster Wrangling gameplay for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World during Thursday’s State of Play, confirming a December 3 launch across Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with more than 500 monsters available to recruit.
The game stars series regulars Bianca and Nera (known in Japan by her original name Flora) from Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, with fellow Dragon Quest V character Debora also making an appearance.
It follows the most recent mainline entry, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, which launched on Switch in late 2023 before reaching PC and mobile platforms in 2024; the monster-taming spinoff series itself dates back to a 1998 Japanese debut that reached the West in 2000 as Dragon Warrior Monsters, and has since seen multiple remakes centered on fan-favorite character Terry.
