Following an earlier tease, Akata unveiled two new digital-only short stories from Shodensha's acclaimed Our Feel label, each priced at 1.49 euros. One, a 64-page 2025 work by Kashio Dezhi, is a historical lesbian short story referencing Japan's 'esu' culture, underscoring the weight of personal choices and their power to shift society. Set in Hokkaido in May 1945, it follows Fumi, who works at a weather observatory recording classified climate data during the Pacific War, and who has secretly loved her colleague Kiri since their boarding school days but has never dared confess in a society that dismisses feelings between women as fleeting — until the intensifying war forces her to reconsider.
