Following an earlier preorder campaign, Akata posted an online preview of the original Franco-Japanese creation Lights, Drag, Action!, due June 10. The story is written by Kam Hugh, a rising French drag queen known internationally since Drag Race France, who has spoken openly about her love of manga culture and recently launched her own makeup brand, with art by Narumi Shigematsu, a mangaka with a distinctive career already published several times in France by Akata, who lived in France for years learning bookbinding before returning to Japan to draw across genres including sci-fi (Babel), historical fiction, and sports (Running Girl). It follows Alois, a closeted gay teen in the Paris suburbs who dreams of becoming a drag queen.
