One of Doki-Doki's most popular isekai properties, Mushoku Tensei returns with a new three-volume spin-off, Mushoku Tensei – The Depressed Mage, drawn by Kazusa Yoneda based on Rifujin na Magonote's original light novel (illustrated by Shirotaka), serialized in Japan from 2021-2025 on Frontier Works' FW Comics Alter. It adapts light novel volume 7, covering the two-year time gap between manga volumes 10 and 11 (previously available in France digitally via the now-defunct Piccoma). The three French volumes are due in September, November, and early 2027. It follows Rudeus, heartbroken after Eris leaves him with only a farewell letter following their first night together, as he travels north hoping to find his missing mother and is nearly recruited by the adventuring party Counter Arrows — save for archer Sara, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Eris.
