GKIDS is looking into make-good screenings after moviegoers reported that English subtitles ran several seconds out of sync during The Last Blossom’s opening weekend, an issue that also led the distributor to cancel some Monday showings following complaints about Sunday screenings.
In comments shared with ANN, the company apologized to affected audiences and said it is exploring options, including corrected repeat screenings, while emphasizing its commitment to the theatrical experience; the film had originally been scheduled for just an August 30-31 run.
GKIDS separately confirmed that its planned North American theatrical rollout of Cocoon – One Summer of Girlhood, based on Machiko Kyo’s manga, remains unaffected and will begin September 4 with both a Japanese-with-subtitles version and an English dub, followed later by a home video release.
