Following an earlier announcement, nobi nobi! revealed full details for its French release of Mio no Na no Moto ni, now titled The Fate of the Mermaid Princess. Translated by Nathalie Lejeune, each volume will cost 7.20 euros, with volume 1 arriving August 26; the French cover and official synopsis were also revealed. Complete in seven volumes, this fantasy was written by Yoshino Fumikawa and drawn by Miya Tashiro, two early-career mangaka making their French debut, and ran in Japan from 2021 to early 2023 in Shueisha's Ribon. It follows a mermaid princess and a boy from elsewhere navigating a kingdom full of secrets, where humans ostracize anyone different from themselves — a coming-of-age story addressing identity and discrimination, carried by a heroine defined by pure emotion and a strong sense of duty, elegant art, and a richly detailed, poetic world.
