As previously announced, publisher Maho will release the classic space-opera novel series Legend of the Galactic Heroes in France, and its Ulule crowdfunding campaign launched today, running through July 20, with the French edition expected to begin in April 2027. Written by Yoshiki Tanaka between 1982-1989 (14 volumes total, the last four being side stories), this landmark of Japanese space opera — known for its rich worldbuilding, political intrigue, and strategic battles — will be presented in a unique French edition compiling the story into seven double-length light-novel-format volumes, illustrated by Japanese artist tmt with a modern visual style. The series has previously inspired several manga adaptations (most notably by Ryu Fujisaki, published in France by Kurokawa) and anime, including the recent Die Neue These.
