In a difficult period for the publishing market, the Eilean Books group was placed under court-supervised receivership (redressement judiciaire, distinct from full liquidation) by the Paris commercial court on June 24. The company now enters a six-month observation period, with until December 24 to find a way to stabilize financially — for instance by bringing in new investors or a buyer — assisted by court-appointed administrator Catherine Poli. The full scope of the company's difficulties, and how upcoming publications, preorders, and relationships with bookstores, translators, and authors will be handled, remain unclear at this early stage. Eilean Books, which publishes books and periodicals, includes several imprints, most notably manga publisher Komikku.
