Taiwanese author Ruan Guang-min, previously known in France for the slice-of-life works The Seasoning of Happiness and Restaurant Paradise (Asian District), joins Kana's Life imprint this month with Dong-Hua-Chun Barbershop, drawing on visual influences from masters Inoue and Takahashi. The first of three volumes arrives August 28 at 8.50 euros. Set around an old family barbershop whose sign spells out the names of its owners, the story follows siblings Chen Xiao-hua and his unknown half-sister Chen Yu-lan, brought together after their father's death alongside a recently paroled barbershop employee, as they come to understand what family really means.
