The spotlight of the new footage is Thor (Jane Foster), announced as the second DLC fighter for the pass slated for the winter of 2027. The clip also introduces the game’s first guest composer, Keiichi Okabe, known for his work on Summer Time Rendering and Yuki Yuna Is a Hero. Okabe crafted a dedicated theme for Thor (Jane Foster), adding a distinct musical flavor to the character’s entrance.

Full Year 1 Roster Unveiled

The trailer also confirms every fighter that will be available through the Year 1 pass. In addition to Thor (Jane Foster), the schedule includes:

  • Phoenix Cyclops – arriving on November 2, 2026 (official announcement)
  • Venom – slated for spring 2027
  • Jubilee – slated for summer 2027

The remaining 20 characters are already in the game at launch, ranging from classic staples such as Spider‑Man, Wolverine, and Deadpool to newer fan‑favorites like Ms. Marvel and Magik. The full launch roster is listed in the original announcement and includes notable names such as Doctor Doom, Magneto, Blade, and Loki.

Release Platforms and Editions

The game debuted on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on August 6, 2026 (August 7 in Japan). Players could also secure the Ultimate Edition, which bundles pre‑order bonuses, five exclusive costumes, chromatic color variations for all launch fighters, and the Year 1 pass that grants access to the four DLC characters and a new stage.

Music, Story Mode, and Production Credits

The opening cinematic was directed by Daisuke Suzuki at the animation studio SANZIGEN. The game’s original theme song, “Stronger as One,” features vocals from Keiko Terada (SHOW‑YA) and mayu (NEMOPHILA), with lyrics penned by Kanata Okajima. Arrangement and composition were handled by MEG of MEGMETAL.

Beyond the multiplayer battles, Marvel Tōkon offers an Episode Mode—a single‑player story presented in motion‑comic style. According to the developers, a “renowned writer from the original Marvel Comics” contributed to world‑building and narrative development, though the writer’s name has not been disclosed.
