Ghost – End of Night Announces New Voice Cast for Upcoming Film

The official site for ghost – end of night (ghost/yoru no hate) has unveiled three new voice actors joining the lineup for the original Madhouse film. The additions were disclosed on Wednesday alongside a fresh batch of promotional artwork.

Set in a near‑future world where labor has become obsolete, the story follows a young girl named Neekei as she pursues the elusive notion of the “real” against a society content with artificial comforts. Bandai Namco Filmworks, the film’s distributor, describes it as a quest for authenticity in a seemingly utopian era.

Director Shingo Natsume, known for his work on ACCA: 13‑Territory Inspection Dept., One‑Punch Man, Sonny Boy and Space Dandy, is both helming the project and writing the screenplay. He teams up with long‑time Madhouse collaborator Madhouse on what marks Natsume’s first original anime film. Natsume says he aims to create “a work that could be called fictional but is in tune with our current time and seeks realism.” The original character designs come from manga creator Natsume Ono, while Norifumi Kugai adapts those designs for animation.

Returning to the core ensemble, Mayu Hotta voices Neekei, the film’s inquisitive heroine, and Issei Takahashi portrays Masu, her close friend whose name has not yet been officially romanized.

The latest announcement introduces three veteran voice talents. Kenjirō Tsuda will lend his voice to Moby Dick, a mysterious man who takes a particular interest in Neekei. Hiroki Yasumoto takes on the role of Karate, a childhood friend of Masu and a section manager at the observatory where Neekei works. Finally, veteran actor Hiroshi Kamiya portrays Itō, another of Masu’s childhood friends and the observatory’s mental coach.

Alternative rock outfit hitsujibungaku will perform both the film’s theme song and the insert track titled “Sugar,” adding a musical edge that complements the sci‑fi atmosphere.

Ghost – end of night is slated to open across Japanese theaters on February 11, 2027. Prior to its domestic release, the film was screened at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in October, where it received attention from GKIDS and Variety’s Animation is Film festival. The festival footage can be seen in the official X post linked below.

In addition to the cinematic version, a manga adaptation illustrated by himiko began serialization in Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine on August 4, providing fans another medium to explore the story’s philosophical themes.

For more details on the film’s development and staff, see the announcement on Anime News Network. The partnership between Natsume and Madhouse signals a continued trend of original anime projects that blend auteur‑driven storytelling with high‑budget studio production.

As the release date approaches, fans can look forward to further promotional material and possibly additional cast reveals. With a strong lineup of seasoned voice actors and a visionary director at the helm, ghost – end of night is shaping up to be a standout entry in the upcoming wave of original anime cinema.
