Demon Lord 2099 Light Novels Conclude With Sixth Volume

Kadokawa’s Kadokawa imprint Fantasia Bunko announced Tuesday that the light‑novel series Demon Lord 2099 will end with its sixth volume. The decision caps a run that began in January 2021 when writer Daigo Murasaki and artist Kureta released the inaugural book under the label.

The fifth installment arrived in November 2025, and the publisher has indicated that the upcoming sixth volume will close the narrative arc that follows the titular Demon Lord Veltol in a cyber‑future Shinjuku. The story, as described by the English licensor, unfolds in “Fused Era Year 2099—Shinjuku, where dazzling prosperity masks a lurid darkness. It is here that the legendary Demon Lord Veltol makes his second coming, striving to seize the future for himself.”

English‑language fans have been able to follow the series thanks to Yen Press, which secured the rights to publish both the novels and the manga adaptation. The licensing was first reported in a July 2021 announcement by Anime News Network, and the company has since released the volumes on a regular schedule.

The franchise’s popularity grew beyond print when an anime adaptation was green‑lit in early 2023. The production was confirmed in a March 2023 news brief detailing the upcoming series. The television version premiered in October 2024 across several Japanese networks, including Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and BS11. A detailed debut report appeared in September 2024 on Anime News Network.

International streaming rights were quickly secured by Crunchyroll. The platform began simulcasting the series in English‑speaking regions, Latin America, and parts of Europe, offering both subtitles and a dubbed version. The English dub, announced in October 2024 by Anime News Network, features a cast of veteran voice actors and was rolled out shortly after the original broadcast.

Alongside the anime, the franchise also expanded into manga form. Artist Yutaka Sakurai adapted the story for a serialized manga, which Yen Press has released in English. The manga mirrors the novel’s blend of cyber‑punk aesthetics and supernatural intrigue, giving fans a visual entry point into Veltol’s machinations.

Fans looking for updates on the final volume can follow the official Fantasia Bunko X/Twitter account, where the publisher posted a teaser image and a short video highlighting the series’ concluding themes. The tweet, posted on the same day as the announcement, serves both as a thank‑you to readers and a reminder that the sixth volume will be the series’ ultimate chapter.

With the light‑novel series drawing to a close, the franchise’s multimedia footprint remains robust. The anime continues to attract viewers on Crunchyroll, the manga is still in print, and the English‑language novels will likely see a final wave of sales as collectors seek to complete their libraries. The end of the novel line marks a natural closing point for the narrative, but the world of Demon Lord 2099 is poised to live on through its screen adaptations and merchandise.
