Code Geass: Lost Stories Mobile Game to Shut Down on December 7

Bandai Namco has officially announced that the Code Geass social‑action RPG Code Geass: Lost Stories will cease all operations on December 7. The notice, posted on the game’s support page, states that the in‑game currency Sakuradite, the Lost Stories Pass, and the Starter Pack will also be unavailable as of the same date.

The service termination follows a multi‑year run that began in May 2022, when the title launched for iOS, Android, and PC via the DMM Game Player platform. Developed by f4samurai, the free‑to‑play title combined turn‑based combat with a narrative set in the Code Geass universe. Players could purchase optional items, but the core experience remained accessible without spending.

Originally teased in September 2018 as a browser‑based project (announcement), the game’s development stalled and it was temporarily removed from the roadmap. In November 2021, DMM Games revealed a restart of the project, confirming f4samurai’s involvement and promising a spring 2022 launch for smartphones and PC (details).

The soundtrack added a notable touch: rock band FLOW performed the original theme song “Pendulum,” a collaboration announced alongside the game’s debut (source). The song became a signature hook for promotional videos and in‑game events.

While the Japanese version continued until the upcoming shutdown, an English‑language version launched on iOS and Android in September 2023 (report) and operated for roughly eleven months before ending service in August 2024.

To keep fans engaged, Bandai Namco announced a companion title, Code Geass Knightmare Survivor, developed by JORO and released on September 15 (year not specified). This “survivor action” game also follows a free‑to‑play model with optional purchases, offering a fresh gameplay loop that diverges from the turn‑based style of Lost Stories.

The closure comes as the Code Geass franchise marks its 20th anniversary. Several high‑profile projects have been revealed to commemorate the milestone, including the upcoming anime Code Geass: Hoshi Oi no Aspal (M4T preview), a new stage musical (announcement), and a traveling exhibition that showcases key artwork and production materials.

Industry analysts note that mobile titles tied to established IPs often face a limited lifespan, especially when operating costs outweigh revenue from in‑game purchases. The decision to end Lost Stories aligns with a broader trend of consolidating resources around newer ventures, such as the 2026 smartphone game hinted at in a recent announcement. By focusing on fresh experiences, the franchise aims to retain its global fanbase while delivering novel content that fits modern mobile gaming expectations.

For players who still have active accounts, the final week will feature a “farewell” event that distributes limited‑time rewards before the servers are permanently shut down. Bandai Namco advises users to claim any outstanding items and to review the official service‑closure page for details on data deletion and refund policies.

While the end of Lost Stories marks the conclusion of one chapter, the surrounding anniversary initiatives signal that Code Geass remains a vibrant and evolving franchise. Fans can look forward to new stories, musical performances, and interactive experiences that continue to explore the alternate‑history world created by director Gorō Taniguchi and writer Ichirō Ōkouchi.
