Tsukida’s career spanned more than three decades, encompassing a wide range of roles in live‑action tokusatsu, television anime, and foreign‑film dubbing. Early fans may remember him as the heroic Ninja Blue, also known as Saizō, in the 1994 Super Sentai series Ninja Sentai Kakuranger. He later returned to the tokusatsu world as the artificial‑intelligence unit HANE2 in the 2022 Ultraman Decker series.

In the world of animation, Tsuchida lent his voice to several memorable characters. He portrayed Kōichirō Iketani in the Initial D: Legend film series, a role that cemented his place among fans of the iconic street‑racing franchise. He also voiced Hyūi in the Fist of the North Star: Legend of Yuria OVA, and J.J. Sexton across the four‑episode net‑anime Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt and its sequel Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky.

His contributions to the Gundam universe continued with the role of Nadim Samaya in the special Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury – Prologue. Tsuchida also appeared in the beloved Pokémon franchise, voicing Platane in the four‑part Pokémon: Mega Evolution Special, and took on the part of Kurumi Risu’s father in Sylvanian Families: Mini Story.

Space‑opera enthusiasts will recall his work as Susumu Yamazaki in Space Battleship Yamato 2199 and later in the sequel film series Star Blazers: Be Forever Yamato – Rebel 3199. More recent roles included Trainer Okita in Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Road to the Top (2023) and its 2024 compilation film, as well as Shippo Marimo in Mebius Dust, which premiered in July.

Current Projects at the Time of His Passing

Just weeks before his death, Tsuchida was heard as King Lionel in the fantasy series The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom, which aired on October 3. He also reprised the villainous role of Damnatio Kira in the second season of Black Clover, appearing in episode 173 that aired on a Saturday.

Hollywood Dubbing and International Work

Beyond Japanese productions, Tsuchida was a familiar voice in the Japanese versions of major Hollywood titles. He provided the Japanese voice for Lightning McQueen in Pixar’s Cars, and for Cade Yeager (originally played by Mark Wahlberg) in the live‑action blockbusters Transformers: Age of Extinction and Transformers: The Last Knight, among other dubbing credits.
