KOMODO announced this week that its NIUHI digital manga platform will be folded into the company’s existing KOMODO STATION online store. The unified service will launch under the name KOMODO Manga & Comics, a move the publisher says is designed to give independent creators broader exposure across its global community.
In a press release the company explained that the rebrand “will help independent creators share their stories with more readers around the world.” It also highlighted that the new platform will “provide creators new opportunities to reach audiences across the broader KOMODO community.” By consolidating the two services, KOMODO aims to streamline discovery for fans while offering a single storefront for a growing catalogue of manga and comics.
One of the most notable aspects of the rollout is the expansion into three new territories: South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. These markets have previously been unavailable on the NIUHI service, and the company expects the added regional reach to boost both subscription numbers and creator royalties.
To kick off the rebrand, KOMODO has scheduled a steady flow of fresh titles every Monday through the end of 2026. The first two releases are My Brothers Make Me Stronger by the duo Sammy & Salem – offered in traditional Chinese and English – and Goodbye, Red‑Haired Long from Light Comics Studios, which will be available in English and Japanese.
NIUHI first entered the market on December 1, 2025, when it launched an iOS app for U.S. and Japanese audiences. The debut was covered by industry site AniTrendz, noting the platform’s focus on indie titles. Since then, the service has broadened its library, adding several series from Manga Mavericks Books in March 2026, an effort also reported by AniTrendz here. Earlier in December 2025, the platform introduced five new indie manga and comic titles, further demonstrating its commitment to diverse, creator‑driven content as reported.
The new KOMODO Manga & Comics storefront can be accessed directly through the existing KOMODO STATION website. Fans looking for the latest releases can browse the catalog at KOMODO Manga & Comics, where the service promises a unified experience for both manga readers and comic enthusiasts.
Industry analysts view the merger as a strategic response to the increasingly competitive digital manga space, where platforms such as LINE Manga, Webtoon, and Lezhin are expanding their regional footprints. By integrating NIUHI’s niche indie focus with KOMODO’s broader e‑commerce infrastructure, the company hopes to capture a larger slice of the market while supporting creators who might otherwise struggle to reach international audiences.
For creators, the move could mean more promotional avenues, as the combined platform will feature cross‑selling opportunities, bundled offers, and community events that tie into KOMODO’s larger ecosystem of merchandise and fan experiences. For readers, the promise of weekly new releases and multilingual support aims to make the service a go‑to destination for both seasoned manga fans and newcomers exploring the medium.
Overall, KOMODO’s rebranding signals a renewed commitment to digital publishing and a clear intention to position itself as a global hub for independent manga and comics. With the upcoming rollout of titles in multiple languages and the addition of new Asian markets, the company appears poised to strengthen its foothold in the ever‑growing digital content landscape.
