Story Premise

The narrative follows Navier, celebrated as the perfect Empress of the Eastern Empire. When she discovers that her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, intends to replace her with his mistress, she chooses divorce—a bold move that shocks the court. Determined to reclaim her stature, Navier embarks on a quest to become an Empress in another kingdom, navigating political intrigue, romance, and personal growth.

Webtoon Success and Future Content

Created by HereLee and illustrated by SUMPUL, the series originated from an original novel by Alphatart. The webtoon amassed more than 2.97 billion global views and has been translated into ten languages, earning a strong following especially in Japan.

The story concluded its main run in January 2026 after a seven‑year serialization, as reported in the final chapter announcement. However, fans can look forward to new side stories launching this fall, detailed in the side‑story preview. English readers can access the series on WEBTOON, and print editions are being released by Ize Press.

Live‑Action Adaptation on Disney+ and Hulu

While the anime prepares for its 2027 debut, the franchise is also expanding into live‑action. A ten‑episode series starring Se‑Young Lee will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on November 4. Episodes will drop twice a week, concluding on November 25. The live‑action adaptation was first reported in the announcement article.

With a multimedia push that spans webtoon, print, television anime, and live‑action drama, The Remarried Empress demonstrates the growing trend of Korean‑origin IPs finding global resonance across formats. Crunchyroll’s involvement ensures a worldwide simulcast, while Troyca’s reputation for lush visuals—seen in titles such as Uchuu Kyoudai and Fate/Grand Order – Absolute Demonic Front—raises expectations for the series’ aesthetic quality. As the 2027 season approaches, fans of romance, political intrigue, and strong female leads have much to anticipate.
