New Trailer Highlights ‘Nocturne’ Segment
The official YouTube channel for Atsushi Nishigori’s original anime film Grotesqqque released a fresh trailer on Wednesday that focuses on the third story, “Nocturne: Nuit Grotesque.” The short preview not only showcases key animation moments but also introduces the insert song “Tiny Luck” performed by Kairi Yagi.

Directed, written, and character‑designed by Atsushi Nishigori, Grotesqqque is an omnibus film that weaves together three distinct narratives, each set in its own surreal worldview. The first two stories, “A(E)liens” and “Yoroshiku★Girl,” have already been teased with their own musical line‑ups, but the newest trailer shifts the spotlight to the nocturnal mystery of “Nocturne.”
The “Nocturne” segment follows a cast drawn from the popular idol group Nogizaka46. Nagi Inoue voices Ayame, Aruno Nakanishi plays Shion, Miku Ichinose is Momo, and Nao Tomisato lends her voice to Canna. Their performances are underscored by a dedicated musical act lineup that includes eba, Nakano+, and Yagi herself.
Alongside the insert track, the film’s opening theme “Shoot Shoot Shoot” is performed by the band METALVERSE, while the ending theme is delivered by Haoto with lyrics penned by momosu momosu. The collaboration showcases a total of 35 musical acts spread across the three stories, ranging from ASCA and Reol to Nanahira and eba.
Grotesqqque is a joint venture under the JOEN banner, a partnership that unites Sony’s Aniplex, CloverWorks, Wit Studio (a sister company of Production I.G), and publisher Shueisha. The film’s producers, Yūichi Fukushima (CloverWorks) and Tetsuya Nakatake (Wit Studio), serve as representative directors for JOEN.
The omnibus is set to hit Japanese theaters on November 6, following its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal earlier this summer (July 16‑August 2). In the United States, the Japan Society will host a premiere in New York City on Thursday, with Nishigori himself providing an in‑person introduction.
For fans eager to see the full cast reveal, Anime News Network reported the 14‑member voice cast earlier this month, confirming the involvement of veteran seiyū such as Kana Ichinose (Ellie) and Gen Hoshino (Kento Kurikura) in the “A(E)liens” segment, as well as a stellar line‑up for “Yoroshuku★Girl,” including Sara Minami, Ikumi Hasegawa, and Saori Hayami.
The trailer’s release adds momentum to the film’s promotional campaign, which already includes an English‑subtitled teaser previously highlighted on Manga For Today. Readers can revisit that material here.
With its blend of eclectic storytelling, star‑studded voice talent, and a sweeping musical roster, Grotesqqque aims to offer a uniquely experimental cinematic experience. The “Nocturne” trailer suggests a darker, more atmospheric tone that complements the film’s overall ambition to push the boundaries of the omnibus format.
