A dedicated website launched on Monday confirming that The Record of a Fallen Vampire (also known as Vampire Jūjikai) will receive a television anime adaptation in 2027. The announcement came with a teaser visual, a short promotional video, and the first look at the series’ cast and staff.

The story follows the tragic love of Vampire King Akabara “Red Rose” Strauss, who lost his kingdom and his queen millennia ago. Humans sealed the queen away with countless false seals, forcing the king to wander endlessly in search of her true resting place. The narrative deepens when the enigmatic entity called the Black Swan begins inhabiting a human girl every fifty years, each incarnation growing more powerful and threatening to end Akabara’s quest.
Original creator Kyo Shirodaira teamed up with writer Yuri Kimura to serialize the manga in Shonen Gangan back in December 2003. The series concluded with nine tankōbon volumes in April 2007. Viz Media released the English print version in 2008, while Yen Press and Square Enix’s Manga UP! Global now handle digital distribution.

Cast and Characters
Leading the voice cast, Yūma Uchida will portray Rose Red Strauss, the last pure‑blooded king of the Night Kingdom. Aino Shimada takes on Bridget Irving Frostheart, a millennium‑old dhampir who allies with the king in his desperate search.
Further character details are available on the anime’s official site, which also hosts additional artwork and bios for supporting roles.

Production Team
The series is helmed by director Mankyū (known for Fist of the North Star: Strawberry Flavor, Migi & Dali, and The Ramparts of Ice). Mankyū also serves as series scriptwriter, ensuring a cohesive narrative across the planned episodes.
Character designs are being crafted by jimao, whose previous work includes prop design for Mechanical Marie and The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague. The music will be scored by Evan Call, noted for his compositions on Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Violet Evergarden.
Animation production is a collaboration between Zero-G and Liber, both studios with a track record of delivering high‑quality seasonal titles.

Future of the Franchise
While the 2027 TV series marks the first major screen adaptation, the creators are already expanding the universe. Shirodaira and Kimura announced a new manga spin‑off titled Vampire Jūjikai: Inu ni wa Inu no Uta (The Record of a Fallen Vampire: A Dog’s Song for Dogs), set to debut in Shonen Gangan on October 9.
Fans of the original series can revisit the manga through the official site’s book section, which provides links to both print and digital editions.

With a seasoned director, acclaimed composer, and a cast that blends veteran voice talent with fresh faces, the upcoming Record of a Fallen Vampire anime promises to deliver a visually striking and emotionally resonant experience when it finally airs in 2027.
