ODK Media's North American streaming platform Amasian TV announced on Thursday it is now streaming a selection of 20 episodes of the anime adaptation of Nagano's Chiikawa mangawith English subtitles and Japanese audio in the United States. The anime is available towatch on demand for free without the need for a subscription to the service.
The company also stated it will stream seasons 2 and 3 of Hyakushō Kizoku and the Gunma-chan anime in the coming months. The streams are all in partnership with Japan International Broadcasting.
The Chiikawa anime premiered in April 2022, and it previouslyaired every Friday within Fuji TV's morning news and entertainment program Mezamashi Terebi, before it began airing twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays in April 2023. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime, and is streaming it on HIDIVE with English subtitles.
Child actress Haruka Aoki (Liza in the Japanese dub of Mighty Express) voices the titular character Chiikawa as her first television anime voice acting role. Child actor MakotoTanaka (Okko's Inn) voices Hachiware. Ari Ozawa voices Usagi.
The anime's newseries premiered in July 2025. Before that, the anime had been rebroadcasting older "pivotal" episodes after its previous series ended regular airing of newepisodes in April 2025.
Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu (Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island), the first anime film adaptation of Nagano's Chiikawa manga, opened in Japan on July 24.
Nagano originally started serializingthe manga under the title Nanka Chiisakute Kawaii Yatsu on X (then Twitter) in January 2020.
Amasian TV is a North American free streaming platform that offers anime, Korean dramas, and Chinese films, as well as Asian news, sports, and documentaries, amongother content. The service started streaming Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood for free inMarch.
